im in southern Yukon and also a geezer. don't hunt moose anymore, too much work but I did kill a bear this spring. not too big but got a lot of peperoni. seems to get tougher every year now. cheers

my first real rifle was a L61 sako in 300 win mag. after 20 years it it became" blood and thunder". sold it to a guy who was a bit sceptical as to its condition, which was bad. i told him, if he could see it he could hit it.met him a few years later and offered to buy it back, but he said no...

there is no better calibre than the 300 win mag from 10 feet to 500 yards with a 180 grain bullet at 3100 fps. it just gets the job done, on anything. you pick the bullet, it doesnt matter. bang , thud. get the knives. if you can see it, you can hit it. i may be slighty biased, 35 years in yukon...
