Do you prefer a hunting rifle with a detachable mag?

This is how I choose them: Floor plate for big game - more accurate, won't shoot more than I can carry. DM for varmint - shoot a lot more and change to a higher grain if something bigger crosses my path. CZ

How much eye relief is enough?

The general rule of thumb is the higher the magnification on the scope the less eye relief, but some brands do offer longer eye relief. You may have had a perfect fit on your rifles, stock weld wise, so that you had a perfect picture once shouldered. Move your eye back and forth until you get...

How much eye relief is enough?

Sight picture is also something to consider in this. You just want to get to the point where you have no black around the edges of your sight picture. You'll get a perfect circle of picture with no black edges and once you get that...stop. Alot of people keep putting their eye closer once...

    NZ Fallow.

Hey Fiftydriver, if your after free range fallow there is plenty in Australia and New Zealand. Fallow are mostly plentiful free range in Tasmania, much greater chance of succes there. I think in Tasmania though you just need to buy a tag down at the police station Cheers, CZ

Tikka T3 or the Tikka Varmint??????

I steered one of my friends towards the tikka super varmint and what a beautiful rifle it is. Absolute tack driver, hardly fouls, picatinny rail and adjustable cheek peice. One of the other things I thought was great was the magazine was a hard polymer and unlikely to be bent out of shape. I...

    .243 for hogs?

I would definately choose the .243, cheaper and effective. Over here pigs/hogs are what we go after and most choose a .243 (The 85gr barnes will do just nicely). And besides I hate using an unknown rifle, too many problems could arise....take the .243. Cheers, CZ
