Long Range .25 Caliber Bullet Selection

I didn`t see this bullet noted in all the replys, but I`ve had very good luck with 108 JLK`s, if you can get them. I`m shooting a 250 AI., SA, 700, 2900 fps. Do not know the bullet BC, but come ups with a 100 yrd zero are, 200-1.5, 300-3.75, 400-6.25, 500-9.25, 600-12.5. This load shoots so...

    9 twist 7mm

I cronied 5 yesterday, average fps was 2950...a bit slower than I`d expected, but they shoot to same POI as the 175 Sierras I use for hunting. They also shot into 1/2 inch. I have no pressure signs, so could possably push 1/2 grn more. That would get me closer to 3K. I have not tried Retumbo...

    load data for 7mm LRM

Trapper....not to steal this thread....but thanks for the info. Again, my first go-round with the Hy-Brids, so was happy with initial results. I`ve been shooting Sierra 175`s at 3020 for hunting load. Extreamly accurate bullet in my rifle. I have loaded my stuff to get the most use out of the...

    load data for 7mm LRM

Interesting read...I`m working with a 7 Wby,9 x26 PAC-NOR. My load for the berger 180 Hy-Brid is 70.2 grn of H1000. Just shot my first 400 yrd groups yesterday, 2.25 inches, but have not cronied yet. I would be happy with 3K. I hope you fella`s get the results your after, considering the pain...

    Ohio Groundhog

I`ve got relitives down near Dayton, and from what they tell me, they got woodchucks. May be a different spot in the State than you, but in general, is it hard getting on land to hunt? They do not hunt, so don`t know. Thanks

    Long range with black powder

IIRC, I wanna say the Brits kicked our butts using BP ML at the turn of the last century. Wimbelton Cup 1K matches.

    9 twist 7mm

Sorry for the delay, been gone for a bit. Got a tip from a mamber to try 3RD Generation, they had some. Shot my load yesterday at 400...2.25 inch groups. Showing promise.

Boone & Crockett Stance on LRH

WOW....this opens a very LARGE can-o-worms, IMHO. In essence, all advancement in the "chase" should have ended with the hand thrown spear. The very sharp flint head is OK. Why didn`t the Club write more explicit rules in the first place? !00 yrds or less? open sights only, and staying with...

    9 twist 7mm

Well, just recieved my 7mm 180 Berger Hybrid`s, and was able to shoot a load with H1000 last nite at 300. 1.75 inch 3 shot group. Looks promising. Now on to 4, 5, then 600. If they stay well under MOA, I`m a happy camper. I`ll keep you posted.

600 yard target for load workup...time to stop?

So you`re shooting about 1/2 MOA at both distances? Elevation looked good at 2" or so, and maybe some mild dispersion for wind. Looks good to me.....but try it again to conferm.

Shooting 100 yds vs. 400 yds

Good advice all, and bad stuff begins to happen after 300 yrds, IME. Another reason practice is so important. The scope sure could be an issue, but so could wind and mirage. Try to shoot when conditions are favorable, not always possible, but I will try to test on an overcast day to eliminate...

    9 twist 7mm

No. In fact waiting for some 175 LR Accubonds to show. Had them on order from Midway sence Jan. Where are you getting the Hybrid`s?

    9 twist 7mm

Thanks Guys, I have built the 7 Wby on a 700 action, and had wanted an 8 twist in the barrel I ordered. Come to find out, the barrel was cut 1x9....I didn`t think to check it when she came in. It shoots 175 Sierra GK at 3020fps extreamly well, 1/2 MOA, and maintains the accuracy out to 500...
