Not to hijack a mostly dead thread but what's this about supplies returning to normal? I built a fast twist 7wsm about a year and a half ago. The 180 hybrids have been like finding unicorn tears here in Canada and 7wsm brass hasn't been seen in two years. Please tell me you guys south are seeing...
I have it set at 2.5 or 3 whatever the lightest setting is. When these jam they are completly locked, feels like the safety is on. It is jammed to one side though, but not from me pulling it there it happens when the trigger is set.
I own three rifles with accutrigger and all of them will jam the first stage of the trigger, only once in a while. If you cycle the bolt it unjams. Its all fine now but when it costs me that Monster buck or bull I will probably jump ship on the savages.
I bought a Boyd thumbhole laminate last year. It needed finishing but I did it myself and it turned out good. I think I paid $175 for it and another 50 into bedding and finishing. CDN $ that is.
Thanks for the advise, .053 5hots at 100. Can you tell me more about your rifle, action work stock ect. I would love to wind up with something that came even close to that.
I'm building on a A-bolt action, laminate thumbhole stock, #5.5 medium varmint shilen barrel handlapped. Hopefully the...
I'm rebarrelling my 7-08. Right now I get 2784fps from 47.5gr of Win 760 and 140gr. bullets. This is with a 20" barrel. This velocity matches the hornady manual with test data coming from a 24". If anyone has experience with this cartridge in barrel lengths from 20"-26" I would be Interested in...
Shot a muley buck today 300WSM 208 A-max @2750 fps 350 meters, the bullet didn't make it through the chest wall. Perfect shot should have been double lung shot. The buck piled up however with out another step. It broke the shoulder away without doing any tissue damage. Pretty weird, I guess dead...
Thanks for the lesson Jerry
I needed a new load for a work trip taking me into northern canada(always have the rifle this time of year) and with large elk, moose I needed a tough bullet. I picked up a box of noslers loaded in increments took it to the range fired 18 rounds, saw both nodes went...
What bullet weight did you see that difference with and is RL17 performing well with temp variation and overall consistency. I'm always the sceptic, you know the old saying if it sounds to good to be true.
I,m getting 3160 from 66gr IMR 4350 Win brass Fed215 primer and 168 Berger or A-max this seems to be the most accurate and ballisticly efficient load for my factory savage with 26" tube. The other load I use is the 208 a-max with 59.8gr Win 760 @ 2715 I read on here RL17 is getting better...
My vote is for h4350 or win 760 168 bergers Win brass and Fed 215 primers. To montana rifleman could you open the bolt after the 2990 210 berger cause thats 200ft faster than I can get them out of my savage.
