This would be the way I would go as well.

Not for sale, but I bought my 12 year old a 270. Put a Limbsaver pad on it and loaded up 110gr Barnes bullets for it. Does not kick at all and is extremely accurate. As he gets a bit older I’ll bump him up to 140gr bullets. Something to consider so you aren’t buying him a new gun in a few years.

Probably a dumb question? All the apps ask what the scope height is. So if you have a rail with moa built in (20 in my case) Do you measure from the front of the scope, middle, or what?

I used to do that with the old Browning A-Bolts. Made a big difference. I always liked the way those stocks felt, never felt the need to replace the stocks after getting them stiffened up.

Good info! I been using Harris’s and don’t mind them. But am looking for something that comes on and off easier. A buddy just bought a Javelin and after messing with it a bit I don’t think those are for me. So I’m down to an Atlas psr or cal in a tall. Not sure what I’m going to like better...
