Which scope for my new mountain rifle build???

As a matter of fact I just picked one up for my upcoming Cooper. Same scope as yours with the 4W reticle so that I can hold for windage. Looking forward to getting it and setting it up on that Cooper. OP, looking forward to hearing what you end up with.

First scope with turrets, help needed

Every one of my rifles will not be getting this treatment. This was a special one that marks an achievement for me. Guess it is all relative. I was talking to the dealer who I purchased from who has Z6's on ALL his hunting rifles!

First scope with turrets, help needed

I ended up getting the Swarovski Z5 3.5-18x with ballistic turrets and 4W reticle. Spent quite a bit more than I intended but I'm thrilled to get it.

Need some opinions on this scope quick! S&B PMII 3-12x 50

Also found out that the scope is calibrated so the one click is one cm at 100 m. Got to think about this. Might do me just fine since I am in Canada and we use metric for about everything other than shooting. Heck, our rifle range here is 100m, 200m, 300m rather than yards.

Which scope for my new mountain rifle build???

Sully, I'm confused. Don't these models come with a Plex reticle? How do you know much to hold over in that case.

Need some opinions on this scope quick! S&B PMII 3-12x 50

I have the opportunity to pick up one of these with the p4L reticle for $1600. It is a demo and in mint condition. Price is $1600. Going atop my incoming Cooper 280 AI. I expect it to be used for a western hunt or a caribou hunt in Quebec some day upto 500 yards. Thoughts? My...

Which scope for my new mountain rifle build???

I have a plain old 3-9x 40 mm Conquest and it is a fantastic scope. Now that you mention it, I should consider the 4.5-14x 50mm with target turrets. Basic question on that scope. While it does not have a zero stop, there is such a thing as zeroing the scope so that the 0 marker on the turret...

Which scope for my new mountain rifle build???

I'd love to hear from someone who has the 3-15x with target turrets if they are the u capped style.

Which scope for my new mountain rifle build???

Just heard this week from someone else (this forum i think) that the Zeiss 3-15x required removing the caps. If you look closely, all the photos they have with the target turrets that don't seem to need caps are of the 5-25x version. I don't need that much magnification. I'm in a similar...

Westcliffe, Kcebcj - what rifles / calibres are you running your Vortex scopes on?

First scope with turrets, help needed

Much appreciate the thoughts folks. Yes I do have a pile to learn. Now you guys have me convinced again that my initial thought with wanting zero stop was on right on. I have a friend who loves his 4-16x Vortex Viper PST. Seems like a very nice scope with a lot of features to boot...

First scope with turrets, help needed

Well it turns out I learned that I don't really need a zero stop. Never realized this but it seems that the scopes with target turrets allow you to set the turret knob to a "0" position through some physical action that involves the reticle not moving when you do it. Then you only have to...

First scope with turrets, help needed

I guess many purchases of mine start with one budget in mind and then move up when I start adding features. Note that unlike the OP, I don't have a set budget. I'm the hijacker of the thread. Like the OP, I'm looking to shoot at similar ranges but I think I'd prefer turning turrets and it...

First scope with turrets, help needed

Yes the Zeiss does seem pretty good. The only thing I have against it is the lack of windage markes on the reticle as I think I would prefer to holdover for windage. Guess I can learn to dial for it. You've got to compromise somewhere. The Swaro Z5 3.5-18x BT seems like it has everything I...

First scope with turrets, help needed

Thanks Kirby. I had not realized that the Zeiss 3-15x had capped turrets. I would have been sorely dissapointed had I ordered online. I've accepted that I'm not going to get what I'm looking for in the under $1k range. So I'm interested in what the best values are for scopes with exposed...
