    Remage/Savage build

All three I have done with Criterion barrels. 2/3 shoot about 1/2 moa. The 7/08 is hanging around moa so far but probably has about 75 rounds down the pipe. I need to do some more load work ups just havent had time.

    Remage/Savage build

Yes. I went with a 9 twist because it was in stock. Shoots 140-160’s fine. 140 BT at 3200 is deer poison.

280 AI. Criterion sporter BC stock Timney trigger. Northland shooters is the place to get everything you need. That and a good barrel vice and your set. I have also done a 7mag and 7/08 Remage for son grandson.

Not hunting but the Terminal list series by Jack Carr former Navy Seal is outstanding. Lots of hunting tied into the story lines. https://www.fantasticfiction.com/c/jack-carr/james-reece/ Savage son has a huge hunting theme in it.

    Set and Forget Scope Recommendation

I just put one of these on a rifle I put together. We hunt in the southeast. Works great for low light. Honestly I have not used the illumination. The scope is clear and bright enough I can see past legal shooting hours.

    Question for all

What are you hunting? I’m assuming you reload. Lately I’ve been trying to get away from custom have to reload for stuff. One day my kids will get my rifles and if it’s an oddball deal they will probably try and sell it. Even then it may be hard to get rid of. 6.5 prc or 7 prc. 7 mag, 300 win...

New Barrel Break-in And Cleaning Methods

When a chamber is reamed there are tool marks in the throat area that even on a lapped custom barrel you will have. So your basically breaking in the throat. On a factory rifle that is not lapped you may have some tooling marks from the button or the hammer forging process. I do the clean every...

Meanwhile on RS they're killin bear, deer, elk , and moose with .223 and 77gr TMK.

Yeah I'm not hunting anything that can hurt me with a small caliber round. I think their point was that bullet construction and performance is important. A fast 22 with a bullet that does damage may have better performance than a tougher constructed bullet in a large magnum. Still if I can push...

An optical chrono is like an ex wife. You cant trust it or believe anything it says. They are also super picky and generally a pita.

    300 WSM refresh

With monos it’s not about penetration it’s about tissue damage and wound channel. With a 100% weight retention bullet it’s going to penetrate. With the barnes I’ve found you need a light for caliber bullet weight and push it hard or the wound channel sucks. Hammers because they shed their petals...

Someone wanted a picture of my hunting rig

Yes I have graduated from deer hunter to head guide, cook and deer skinner. It’s a very rewarding job. I think I made about 6 hunts myself last year and managed to kill two decent bucks.

Someone wanted a picture of my hunting rig

We had one for a while. Great little camp vehicle. Our was a little cold natured and could be hard to start on cold mornings. Ultimately we needed something with more room to ferry all the grandkids around.

    280 AI

I think he means slower as in lower velocity not burn rate. H4831 has been about 100 fps slower than R 26. I have some R23 but have been reluctant to try it as I have not seen any on shelves in a while.
