    270-300 Win Mag now feasible

I certainly want to express my appreciation to all of you. Thank you very much for the information and encouragement with this project. As spring approaches and my health improves, I hope to do more testing. I have always wanted to break 1000 yards on flesh with a .277" bullet. Hopefully...

Are you using the 130 or 140 TBT? Does their BC match actual drop out to a 1000yds or so? Thanks, John

    270-300 Win Mag now feasible

Close. It is the 270-7mm Rem Mag. It holds about 3-5 grains less powder. John

I only found a couple small fragments; nothing over a grain of rice in size. It looks like most of the bullet material still exited, even though it completely fragmented. The doe in the picture with my son dressed 173 lbs. The internal bullet path was 16 1/4 inches.

Small deer impact at 312 yards. The exit is on the right side of the photo. The sternum was split and most all of the ribs were fractured by the impact. The stomach was burst and blood shot was observed in the entire front half.

I was able to test a few of the 170gr. Bergers on White Tail over the weekend.

Re: Berger 170s sometimes work... Thanks. Normal for this load....and my lack of ability has been in the 6-7" range at 800. I have fired one group at 1250yds to verify my drop and it was 12" for all five rounds. A G7 of 0.335 has worked well for me out to 1250yds. I look forward to hearing...

Re: Berger 170s sometimes work... I finally had a good cool day with minimal wind and mirage to confirm my zero. This is a 270-7mm Rem Mag, 72grs. Retumbo, 170gr. Berger (HBN Coated), Fed 215 primer and fire-formed Nosler brass, MV 3150fps. The average of four 3-shot groups at 800 yards was...

    Reloader 26 temp sensitivity

Yes, my backup load was: 72grs. Retumbo, 170gr. Berger EOL, and Fed 215 primer. It yielded a ΔV/T of a little less than 0.2fps/°F. Indeed, I only completed two trials of three rounds but that was enough to satisfy me. The load is not as accurate as the R-26 load and the node is not as wide...

    Reloader 26 temp sensitivity

I really wish my results for R-26 had been as promising. My cartridge is the .270-7mm Rem Mag. My load was Fed. 215 primer, 65 grs R-26, 170gr. Berger EOL. This is a moderate load with a very wide node. I was really looking forward to using it this season. Unfortunately, upon putting the...

I re-did the freezer test with the .270-7mm Rem Mag with a load that consists of: Nosler 7mm Rem Mag brass (1-fire) Fed. 215 Primer 72.0 grains Retumbo 170gr. Berger EOL seated to mag length (HBN Coated) At 65 degrees Fahrenheit the load gives 3155 +/- 9 fps with a slightly flattened primer...
