Make sure the shell holder is matched to the die you are using. I have an older Lyman shell holder and it is thicker by a few thous. thus not allowing me to bump the shoulder. Only is a problem on the belted magnums like 7mm RM. Not an issue when sizing 270 winchesters.
Caution on going to a school that also sells there own custom rifles. They tend to push their product and spend less time with people who bring their own rifle from another smith. i.e. Inferring you are using an inferior rifle. Personal experience.
I used Redding dies & Hornady brass on both 300 PRC & 6.5 PRC - Had problems with sticky bolt due to shoulder bump. I had to make sure to size the brass 2-3 times and carefully adjust the sizing die to make sure the shoulder gets bumped properly. Problem solved. Need to check it case after...
6.5 prc max coal is 3.072". loading 3.050" @ 2998 fps with H1000. ED is running a little high, will try increasing jump to lower when I can get to the range.
160 gr accubond - At 40 yds last week hit a whitetail in the heart and it blew the heart into little pieces (mush). Nice hole in and bigger hole out the other side. Just what you would expect. Hit a mule deer in the neck in October at 130 yds and rolled it over dead - he did not even take a step.
Had a Bartlein built for my 300prc - For a hunting rig if you have a brake - #3 would be smallest contour, no brake then a #2B. I got a #3 fluted in a 9.5 to 9.0 gain twist, 5R. The fluting only takes off about 1.5 ounces.
