Update on my 1963 7mm Rem mag. It was still shooting okay but my GS and I borescoped it. No rifling for the 1st 12 inches, looked like a darn shotgun bore. Went ahead ans screwed in my other barrel and throated it so I could shoot 175gr partitions with base seated to the bottom of the neck...
Thank you. On a standard 06 cartridge the shoulder is blown out from about .437 to .455. Do you know what the shoulder diameter of your improved case is?
Since I had a couple thousand 300 Win mag cases laying around, I kept it simple and built a 7mm Mashburn Super. Same velocities but always a ready supply of brass.
I've been shooting my 7Rem mag for around 53 years, my dad shot it before me. It's a 1962 M700 with a stainless barrel and it's got over 5000 rounds through it. It will still shoot well under an inch. I've never really let the barrel get too hot..
I don't know that I buy into that. Having guided for Oregons big Roosevelt for nearly 40 years, I will say that I witnessed more 1 shot kills on them from a 270 Winchester and 130gr bullets than any other cartridge. I always recommend the 130gr Nosler Partition.
Anyone one on here have anything to to do with this cartridge? Blown out to .495 on the shoulder. I have a set of RCBS dies for it, have a 30-338 win mag with a some throat issues so thinking of setting it back and rechambering it. Any thoughts? Will be on a commercial Mauser with a magazine...
The 36 mex is a small ring, small thread with a short magazine designed for the 7mm Mauser cartridges. As is, a 30-06 won't even fit in it, it's way too long. I have 3 sitting on my bench right now for custom builds so I was just wondering.
