    Up/Downhill corrections

Any thought to the significance of an angled scope base? I have a 45 MOA base on my "50", which amounts to 0.75 degrees. Scope base and barrel are therefore not parallel..... Factor of least significance? Gosh I love this stuff.. Scott

    375-408 Cheytac

[ QUOTE ] Chey Tac is working on their 375 CT right now so they may offer brass in the future but at this time you have to get 408 CT cases and neck them down to 375. Not a big problem. Only way to get a rifle in this class of chambering is to have it custom made. I make my 375 Allen Mag...

More range testing with 338 Allen Magnum XHS rifle....

Kirby, Thanks for the kind words and load data experiences. I was pleasantly surprised to see Keith's article, as it was nice to actually see the photo's of your wildcats. I have used a shortened/improved case in my competition 50's, which was designed by Lynn McMurdo. It is .375 shorter...

    Help with Scope

[ QUOTE ] lrs50bmg, Thanks for the feedback. Do I need to make any adjustments to this when I'm dialing my scope in? Thought the reticles were etched in on the IOR's? [/ QUOTE ] Spino, The reticle is etched on glass, but it is held in position by an erector system, adjusted by the windage...

    Help with Scope

Spino, I believe the "peg" you are referring to is the recess where the coil spring that tensions the reticle erector is located. Using a coil spring tends to make the reticle more durable than leaf springs. Scott

More range testing with 338 Allen Magnum XHS rifle....

[ QUOTE ] Kirby, Thanks for the insight, I'll try to remember that before I post in the future. On the subject of barrel life, and maybe you've addressed this in the past, have you found that sherical double-based (hotter but less abrasive) or extruded (cooler but more abrasive)...

Sectional density, ballistic coefficient and wind drift

Ballistic coefficient and velocity are both important. Ballistic coefficient is a mathematical factor that allows us to use formulas to calculate bullet path. It can best be thought of as a measure of how much "drag" a projectile has as it travels though the atmosphere. Factors that affect...

    Surgeon XL Action

Thanks for the info guys. Yes, I knew the Surgeon XL was designed for the .338. I guess my post was confusing, as I was actually asking 2 questions. 1. If anyone had any experience with the Surgeon XL, and their thoughts? (As I want to build a 2nd .338LM) 2. What actions are suitable for a...

    Surgeon XL Action

Gents, I am new to this Forum, and have read through many of the threads. I am no stranger to long range shooting, having competed in FCSA 1000 yd matches for 15 years, (2-Gun National Champion 1998 - 2002) and spent a good deal of time shooting my 50 on a military base out to 2000yds. I have...
