I would suggest the the 270 with a fast twist barrel. It can handle the newer high B C bullets that would be more than adequate for anything you mentioned. Can also get milder loads if desired. It is an old standby that has proven itself to be reliable. Ammo is
available about everywhere.
As mentioned above, I woulds suggest the 260, 6.5 x 55 or 270.
All would be very good. Make sure that the rifle barrel you get has a twist rate suitable for the bullet weight you want to use.
Which slings do you like best for shooting. I want to get a sling and learn to shoot in these positions. What slings have you found best. Thanks for any and all input. Al
The 260 has a little better distance performance than the 7-08 but not a lot. The 260 with a break would be perfect for you, if available, but the 7-08 should do just fine. A PAST shoulder pad offers a lot of shoulder protection, especially for practice.
