    Tragic bear attack in Wyoming

Another fatal bear incident; this one on Admiralty Island SE AK. 18 year old OK kid on their helio crew exploration crew. I think it was Timberline drilling crew. Sad deal for the family of this young adventurer; Alaska offers some amazing experiences but you do have to be prepared for the...

    Tragic bear attack in Wyoming

Lots of great bear tales in this thread; some may have actually happened. sad deal for those involved no doubt and my prays are with them. As for bears, I respect them as long as we have that mutual agreement. If not then I take corrective measures. I do not carry bear spray, I try not to be too...

    Dead sled for load workup

I own one but only use it for load development on kickers, light weight magnums usually. Think I've used mine a half dozen times. My son bought a Browning 325 short mag and that thing will bring tears to your eyes after about 4-5 rounds.I used the sled to develop his hunting load.

I would rather be trialed by 12 than carried by 6..... Any question and its a dead bear.

    Tragic bear attack in Wyoming

Sad deal for sure. Prayers are with the families. Attacks do happen, never trust a bear; they are easier to be around when feeding on salmon. Ive fished within 50 feet of grizzlies many times in Alaska and never had an issue. I've hunted the Yellowstone a fair bit and never had bear issues. I...

    28 Nosler advice needed

Berger 215 hybrids will be the next thing I x off my list if they don't start showing up. I purchased 1,000 about 2 years ago when they were impossible to find. I'm down to less than 200 and when they run out if I can't fond 'em on the shelf I'll find something else for my 300 win mags

I gave up on the H4350 in my 6.5 as well and started burning RL17. I hate the hype on anything, just drives me to fond a better way. I guess we create our own problems tho.

    28 Nosler advice needed

I like Bertram, I purchased 250 cases about two years ago for my 7 STW when you couldn't find any. Its good brass, not as shiny and purdy and is harder than Chinese arithmetic but holds up good, and as you mentioned weighs out as good as any on the market. It does make the old Frankford Arsenal...

    28 Nosler advice needed

I found it odd that the best group of the listed test loads had the worse ES and second worst SD. All I've read is get the ES/SD right and the gun will shoot. That hasn't been my experience with my 300WM or 7STW and now the 28 is proving that theory to not hold water. While the group with the...

    28 Nosler advice needed

Sorry forgot to add, these are 28 Nosler cases. I may have to find some 26 Nosler and build them to 28s because I cannot find 28s anywhere, everything is back order

Holding up okay. these last rounds were 4th firing and first full length sizing. I did notice two of the 23 test cases had slightly loose primer pockets on the 4th load but I have not yet not any to prime pockets. I only have (had) 25 cases used one to build my COAL/BTO gauge and one for...

Good coyote hunting areas in central Nevada?

Good luck on the hunt and hope the Wildhorse fire didn't burn your area.

Good coyote hunting areas in central Nevada?

Looks like its going to be a big dog year in northern NV. I see 3-5 dogs daily on my drive to work. Seeing several smashed on the road, lots of rabbits too. I'm guessing we'll have more than our share of dogs here this year between Eureka and Spring Creek.

Some load data from today at the range. Keep in mind this is load data developed for my rifle specifically and may not produce the same results in other rifles. As always use extreme caution when hand loading any firearm. I loaded 6 various loads all using RL50, All using CCI250 Mag primers, All...
