I have a 338 win mag in Remy 700 sitting in the corner that is collecting dust. I know these are not speed demons, but what would happen with a 300 grain Berger at like 2400 FPS? I ran the numbers quick, and it looks like the same energy at 1000 as my 300RUM with 210's. Anyone try this...

I would say the canted base would cut your gap in half. Which in my opinion is too close according to your measurements. Go to higher rings just to be safe. And now you can put butler caps on it too.

That seems a little hot. What Im running: Remington 700 Sendero 26" Tube Federal 215 Primers Remington Brass 92 Grains of Retumbo 210 Berger loaded .020 off lands (single shot) Velocity 3080 FPS.

How do you complete a ladder test at 100 yards? Thats way too close if you are trying to find a node.

How close is your scope to your barrel now? Unless it is really tight I highly doubt you will need to change ring height.

Another Elk down here with a 210 Berger. Cow Elk at 150 yards running full tilt. Held right in front of the brisket, and dropped her like a sack of potatoes. Perfect Behind the shoulder lung hit. DRT This makes 3 Elk and 1 deer killed by the Bergers. Nothing but happy here. And just an FYI...

Anyone try the Federal Brass for the 300 RUM? Bought some about 6 months ago but still running the Remy with good results. Just found my load and am afraid to use the Federal as it may change things.

Huh.....My Remy 7600 prints under an inch with my reloads, as well as my brothers and dads. But maybe we got three lucky ones. Pretty handy guns in the brush. Mine doesnt care for boattails and balistic tips, but throw a flat based soft point in there and she loves it.

From what I have heard.....DONT DO IT!!!!!

Running the tried and true H380 in my 1-14 twist with the Berger 52 Grain with excellent results. P-dogs beware this summer.

I would say that you could dial to a mile with that setup, based on my current setup with the 210's and a 20 MOA Rail.

Running 2 setups with the TPS rings/bases and am very happy thus far. Very good quality and holding up with the 300 rum recoil.
