That not it. It was a plain vanilla BDL action. I had to put my own trigger and scope rail on it. They weren't selling completed rifles yet as far as I can remember. If they were they weren't the Alpha series. I want to say I thought about buying a completed rifle at the LGS just for the receiver or order just the receiver.

I could be wrong, but I was under the impression that Savage function tests their guns. SOMEBODY must be test firing them because they show signs of being fired out of the box.
 
243 Win is 8 twist. Good on them. 22 inch fluted barrel with black cerracote.

Very encouraging to read these words. 70's, 80's, and 90's I shot/hunted/loaded with 4-5 Remington 700's and 7's that were great shooters and the quality was there for production rifles. I'm down to one model 7 that's a keeper for me. I'm rooting for Remington! I'm sure word will start trickling in from buyers of the "new" Remington. Also glad to see new twist rates. Hopefully the threaded barrels will follow.

Hopefully someone I load for will buy one and I'll get to shoot it. I'm looking forward to what Rem can put out again. I have one of their last 700 built in 2017 that is a real shooter. 223 5R stainless tactical. Trigger is a little funky. Seems to go from working great to won't cock the firing pin. Seems to back out the set screw on it's own. I've even used blue locktite on it. It's holding for now. When my money tree blooms I'll get a new trigger.
