Heaviest bullet to 4,000FPS

Scope-eye, what is your chamber?
I am sorry I have no details on the specs of this chamber I bought the reamer from a guy in an alley who was also selling watches.LOL I lent it out to another smith and it broke "it Happens" he made good and gave me three other reamers but I never replaced that one. I think it was a Hanson brand reamer.

You ever hear the phrase "the whole 9yds"? It's because A-10s have 9yards of ammo feeding each gun
No. The whole 9 yards was an expression long before the A-10 came to be. Its from WWII because the 50 BMG belt used on B-17s was 27' feet long.

I had a distant relative who is long gone and I remember him telling stories of how his job on the long distance bombers was to switch barrels on the 50 cals mid flight and mid battle. He had these thick asbestos gloves and use to grab the barrel which was glowing red hot and turn it, I think by what he was saying they were "Cammed in" then take this glowing red hot 48" barrel and toss it out the port, and install a new barrel that's all he did and could barley keep up. I can't begin to imagine.
Those arn't Brass balls those are Depleated Urainium ones.LOL

If some one want's to correct me on the details I'm fine with that, it was a long time ago when I was knee high to a grasshopper and might have got a few details wrong. The first time I met him he showed me "Hey kid come over here and pull my finger" I thought it was the coolest thing, my mom was so ****ed at him for showing me that. I can still hear her now "it will be a long time before your invited back if you don't cut that out" LOL

PS: A glowing red hot 4 foot barrel falling 30000 ft Look Out Below.LOL

If the uncle is still around, let him know digital is better. I just tell my kids to push my finger now . Much more efficient , lol.

I recall an article in an old guns digest where they did an experiment on bullet wt vs velocity on a 1/2" steel plate of unknown metallurgy . They fired 3 rounds , 1st a 405gr 45-70 , 2nd a 165gr 308 , and third was a 22 wildcat on a 06 case with a 50gr pill. They showed illustrations of the impacts . It was very enlightening ! The 45-70 made a big splat on the plate with no damage. The 308 put a nice dent with some distortion around the dent. The little 22 cal bullet traveling at over 5000fps put a 3/4" hole in the plate and caved a 2" funnel leading to the hole. I was only 15 when i read that article, im 56 now . It left a lasting impression on me when it comes to velocity vs bullet weight. I could easily see the results on the Ga whitetails i killed with my 2 favorite rounds , 308 and 270. That 130gr 270 just instantly sucked the life out of anything it hit . The 180 roundnose corelok i used in the 308 was always lethal, but never drted unless i hit neck or backbone. Velocity is king on flesh and bone.

God Bless The Warthog...
saved many men.
While servicing in 3/4 Cav 25 ID in 1969. Our Lt. Col used the Air Forces effectively during his time there. I have gotten to buy a few fly boys a dinner a few time after being home. I don't care if they flew for us or others. My hat is off to them. They saved a lot of men from being KIA's and wounded. I would have hated to be on the other side. That if they were and are used effectively.

This sparked a memory. The best WW2 Japanize Ace came to Santa Barbara and opened a restaurant. Can you think what the Japs would have done to the best GI Ace if they won? United States is a great place!
