Why are your costs irrelevant your comparing your Smith to others, so what you can get done is not what the average Joe can so let's compare apples to apples. And yes a custom is a custom not semi custom. Defiance, Bat, Curtis ,Borden ect. all have what I described so for arguements sake tell me what you can get a 700 done for what I described or let it die.

My costs are irrelevant because as I stated, I have known my smith for years. He cuts me a good deal. Significantly cheaper than what he charges some random stranger.

Why? The odds are not always in everyone's favor. How many times in your life have you gotten lucky on something? How many times have you been unlucky? Buy it! Then you can "upgrade" the stock and sell the take off to me! I love the HMR stock. Wish I could find one for my 25-06 but long action take offs are rare.

I really like the stock on that rifle so well. I shot my dads 300 hmr and it's very comfortable.

Thing is I dont like to be limited. I found out even with my savage I was limited on my options. With Remington the sky is the limit. I think it's just a better deal than buying just the action and having to collect parts. Atleast I can shoot this one as I go and probably cheaper in the long run unless something is bad wrong with the rifle.

I have two of them. First was the .30-06. Changed the trigger, bedded it, and cerakoted it. Next was a 300 WM that got the same treatment. Very happy with both.

I built on a savage...... but I'm not 100% satisfied with that either. Savage actions to me are alittle less than desirable. But it shoots so dang good....

So I'm tossing around the idea of rebarreling the browning as long as I can get it back. Only issue is I cant find any stocks for them. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

McMillan makes stocks for a couple xbolt models?
Boyd's pro varmint is modelled on the a5 and similar to the hmr stock

I was told a person can only return an unfired rifle. So shouldn't be a problem. They probably don't want to be stuck with the warranty work. If it was a perfectly functioning rifle I bet they'd take it back easier

First off I also said the LR worked out for a friend so it's unfortunate that this happened. And it is up to the store but man I would think they would work with you since it's obviously not your fault. There may be ways to force your shop to take it back. But it might be easier to speak to Remington directly. In the past their customer service had a rep for being very good.
