The simple short of it is, if you're going to start from scratch you're better off buying a custom action. Some can be found for around $800. If you want to use the browning action and have a good smith that will work on it it will save you a few hundred bucks. Everyone likes to tell you "just...
Easy now. There has been many of debates over the years on here about how a custom action is better in every way!!! That being said, you're spot on! A true action is a true action, which is a true action. Something on a 700 footprint is going to have more options but once you buy all the stuff...
I've heard plenty of instances that H1K just doesn't give the speeds but that's just not what I've found. I mean I know there's powders that yield faster speeds but it has shot plenty fast and accurate in all the rifles I've used it in. At any rate seems like Grand could spice things up a little...
OP curious if this rifle is new? If you had a load worked up with it before with something else and if so, what were the specifics of that? Be interesting to test it side by side with h1000.
Understood. 25fps is just what may have happened in this instance. I don't see how incorrect readings is good/consistent/useful..no matter how insignificant you claim it is. Findings noted. Back to the OP.
Sig? How does this optic compare to lieca? I'd be hard pressed to spend $2700 on a sig optic. Have a few friends that are less than impressed with their optic and customer service.
I would try and get as comfortable as possible so as to set the eye relief once. This is not something you should be adjusting multiple times, although you certainly can I suppose.
Not trying to derail but I thought that garmin thing was the greatest thing since the invention of gunpowder?
OP this would make me scratch my head too. This seems like my kinda load development luck haha. I'm interested in your results. As of now I have a 22" 300wm that is doing 50-75fps...
What are you wanting to do with the other rifle? I'd personally see little advantage of having both the 280 and 7prc. But then again I have three 7mags so what do I know. If you like something you like it. You also have everything you need to stick with the 280...if that motivates you.
So going off your statement that any of todays bullets will do the job if placed correctly, the bergers that were "carried off by deer" were shots that you had to have missed and are not faults of the bullets. Did you switch bullets because you just don't like bergers or because they didn't...
I guess I should have clarified. If OP is considering breaking down one of the 2 tack drivers he has just because he has an extra barrel I'd say don't do it. Hahaha. Spend more time enjoying the ones you got! Cuz how fun is an accruate rifle!!!
