    Load Development- 28 nos/H1000

So I switched to Retumbo and 175gr bergers. Still using Peterson brass and WRLM primers. I’m getting a little “click” at the top of the bolt lift even at the bottom end of the load range (77 to 78 grains). My velocity is right around 3000fps at 78 grains, so I feel like I shouldn’t be over...

Using WLRM primers. Yeah, I’m quite new at this, so being careful

    Load Development- 28 nos/H1000

I’m .050 off the lands. Supposedly that’s a good place to start for accubonds.

    Load Development- 28 nos/H1000

So, I worked up some loads. At 77 grains I had a flattened primer, and 3175 fps. Given that the velocity at max loading is supposed to be 3230, I’d say 77grains is pretty close to the top. I’m going to work up loads in the 74-76 grain range and see how they do.

    Load Development- 28 nos/H1000

Working on load development with H1000 with 160gr AB’s. Nosler’s website has a load range of 77-81. The reloading manual has 74-79 grains. Anybody using H1000 for 28 nos care to share your load data? Somewhere between 74-81 grains is a big spread, wondering where folks actually land.

    7mm Elk Bullets- Berger Alternates

This is a good summary of my thoughts as well. Should have known it would side-track into a debate over bullet terminal performance. Personally, I don’t love “hydrostatic shock” fragmenting bullet like bergers just cause it’s a messy way to kill stuff. Hence the question about whether there’s a...

Or would you bother, if your goal is just a half-decent sub-moa load?

Nice. Thats really helpful. I’m using Peterson brass, so hopefully more consistent. How would you measure case volume of unprimed virgin brass?

    Headspace Woes

Sure. Im asking about drastic inconsistencies, though. Look at it the other way around. Say you have a load worked up that’s shooting, say, single digit ES and 1/2moa with your 3x fired brass. Then you get a batch of new brass with the same headstamp. You load it with the same...

    Headspace Woes

This is interesting stuff. answers: -28nos -once-fired Peterson brass -using the Lyman case lube kit. Question: Understood that over-working brass isn’t great for its lifespan. Will my batch of brass bumped back to a range of .004 to .006 give me a wildly huge ES, though? (within the batch...

Ah, that may be the culprit. I definitely wasn’t being sparing with the lube. No expander ball, have the decapping pin rod installed that doesn’t have the ball. So just using the bushing to size. It’s what the Eric cortina video said to do 😁

Once fired. Should have mentioned that.
