    Favorite uncommon calibers

That’s funny because I used to have an old husqvarna m98 in 8x57 Mauser. My wife couldn’t care less about guns but when she saw “husqvarna vapenfabriks, Sweden” on the rifle she immediately declared its name was “Sven”.

Why is Rel 26 so great??

Nah just mix them all together and guess the burn rate, right? 🥴

    T-Gewehr Bullet

Agreed. But hammer has a good history of making some very specific “niche” products if a customer wants them. I recall reading about one of Kirby’s 458-50bmg ai type monsters where they made a ridiculously long high bc lawndart of a bullet for that project. And they make 17 and 204 cal...

What gun would you want if the SHTF?

Good Lord, you’re cheating!!!!! And also….i can’t imagine having the luxury of being able to bring 4 guns AND NOT ONE OF THEM being a 12 gauge shotgun of some flavour! 🤣

Why is Rel 26 so great??

Woah! I definitely learned something there about the trivergent thing! So back to progressive….how do they make it to burn from the inside out and the outside in at the same time? Is that like why it almost looks like There’s a little hole in the end of the kernels for some kinds of stick...

What gun would you want if the SHTF?

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😁🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 I’m dead. That’s the stupidest, funniest thing I’ve read today. You win the internet. Had I been drinking coffee at the moment, I’d have spat it everywhere! 🤣

What gun would you want if the SHTF?

Much like primers, toilet paper can hoarded and sold as currency during desperate times we’ve learned. I beleive it was on this forum I saw someone say “I’ll trade you a pallet of toilet taper for two 8 pounders of h1000” 🤣

Why is Rel 26 so great??

Never heard of triple based powders as being called “trivergent” either! Maybe an Australian thing…I am familiar with those; in addition to the nitrocellulose and nitroglycerin bases there’s nitroguanidine. It has a lower flame temp and higher gas volume but is harder to get burning in the...

Why is Rel 26 so great??

In my 22 inch barrel savage 99 .243 Winchester the max charge I hit was 45 grains LVR under an HBN treated 75 grain Barnes X (the old school non-grooved x bullets) - a hair over 3500 fps.

Why is Rel 26 so great??

My understanding of “progressive” burn rate was a bit different than this…like RL17, RL26, SUPERFORMANCE, StaBall 6.5, LVR (possibly) are progressive burning in a way that rl19 rl22 h4350 imr7828 etc are not. Through the use of flame retardants or other chemical means the burn rate of the...

Why is Rel 26 so great??

I hear very good things about LVR in the .308 Winchester…it was close to max obtainable velocity in my .243 with 75 grain bullets as well.

    T-Gewehr Bullet

Nah man this isn’t an expanding bullet so the elk wouldn’t even know you shot it 🥴. The 77 grain TMK out of a .223 rem in an AR platform is the pinnacle of elk hunting equipment don’t ya know??? 🤣

Why is Rel 26 so great??

The IMR ENDURON line has been discontinued for a while now :(. But I agree. It was great, I loved 8133 and 4451 especially. Superformance and Leverevolution are indeed also progressive burn rate powders (I think LVR is anyway, for sure superformance) - I’m also not entirely convinced that...
