    Vortex lht comments?

I’ve seen a lot of negatives regarding the Razor LHT line. I’ve beaten on a couple of FFP Viper HSLR’s enough to trust them on my hunting rifles. One rode for 6 miles in an ATV trailer that went fully airborne on more than one occasion with no POI shift. That gave me a lot of confidence in my setup.

Wyoming : A hunters dream destination?

I've hunted Wyoming as a non-res a fair amount. If you aren't stuck on elk there is a lot of opportunity out there, and it isn't really that hard to get away from crowds on foot if you put some time in studying the maps. Obviously the more rugged the area, the fewer people you will generally...

Help: Bottom metal bolts for M5 conversion

Here’s the cut I made on a manual mill. I don’t remember the exact depth of cut, but it was somewhere between .100-.150”. Side milled with a 1” carbide end mill. Looks just like my other top release actions.

    Savage bottom bolt release conversion

Didn’t see this response before I posted, but this is what I did as well. It’s extremely easy to do with some pretty basic machining equipment.

    Savage bottom bolt release conversion

Easiest way to do this is to have your smith mill out the recessed clearance for the top release and buy a Jard trigger. Done.

Help me decide on a new stock for my Savage LA build...

I have a VG2 on my savage 300WM and I have two buddies running them on a Bighorn Origin .308 and a Savage UL 30-06. I installed the stock on all three rifles and I’ll say the fit on the Savage is not as good as the Rem clones. Both Savages required some sanding to get proper fit to the action...

What I learned on my first backpack hunt. (Cold weather)

I learn something new every trip. As mentioned previously, 100 calories per ounce is my general rule of thumb, and I also shoot for 2000-2500 per day. Uncrustables and freeze dried tortellini are great cheap options that fit this requirement. Another thing to consider that was a big concern for...

Bedding a Savage aluminum bedding block

I always torque the action screws to full torque spec when I have bedded them in the past and I only bed the recoil lug and front of the action. The action screws are 1/4-28 thread. you will likely have to buy a screw that is 1/4" longer and cut it down to the correct size.

    Berger 208 LRHT on game

Old thread, but here’s my experience with them. I struggled to get my new 24” carbon 6 barrel to shoot anything well, but finally got the 208 LRHT shooting consistently 1/2-3/4 MOA in my 300WM (2960fps). Took it up to fill some whitetail crop damage permits. Results below (exit holes) range from...
