450 yards with a Stevens bolt action and hand loads using a .243 Winchester and a Nikon scope! Last time I will try that! I have the mushroomed Nosler Ballistic tip mushroomed out in a bowl. Found the bullet just under the skin in the off side. Just not enough energy at that distance.

Like it or not a Stevens in .243 with a cheap Nikon scope. Pronghorn at 450 yards like a target at 50 yards! Handloads with Nosler 90 grain ballistic tips.

Marlin XL7 Chambered in .270 win! Shot factory ammo so bad I never even played with it. I bought it to replace my daughters Savage Model 110 that shot really good.

H4831 is what I use. But IMR 4831 does work as well!

1000 yards is a poke! And if you don't shoot at that range consistantly I do not reccomend doing it on an animal to make a humane kill!

Are those shot groups in a Factory rifle? Just wondering as both me and my brother had the same .375 Rugers built out of 1917 Enfield actions about 10 years ago. I have not played with it since I did the barrel break in?
